Petroglyph Moose Mug

The petroglyphs at Nämforsen (Sweden), that inspired these mug designs, are believed to be as old as 6500 years. The site is one of the largest collections of rock-carvings in Europe with about 2600 different figures and lines in total. They have been chipped into the rocks at the islands of Notön, Brådön, Laxön and their adjacent shores close to the rapids.

Many of the carvings depict moose and none of them have antlers. Either they are female moose or it could be because the people who made the carvings would usually witness all the moose migrating north during spring for new grazing pastures, where the moose have taken the same paths for thousands of years. In spring the male moose have not yet grown new antlers which they shed every autumn/winter.

The "sun cross" or "solar cross" symbol is found in various ancient cultures and is especially associated with European prehistory from the neolithic to bronze age periods. It is said to represent the sun and its life-giving energy, often associated with fertility, renewal, and the cycles of nature - reflecting the significance of the sun as a central celestial body and a source of light and warmth. The circle symbolizes the sun, while the cross signifies the four cardinal directions or the solstices and equinoxes. The symbol is also often interpreted as a solar symbol connected to the norse sun goddess Sol. 

Rest assured I am strongly against any kind of white supremacy - you may recognize a similar symbol to the sun cross, used by those movements, which looks slightly different. Sadly they often use norse symbols and runes and taint them with their agenda - I think we should not let them claim these old symbols. To me the sun cross is only about appreciation for nature, the seasons, the earth and the return of spring and life!
